How can listening to the natural world, and to wisdom from spiritual traditions, provide paths forward in confronting the climate and biodiversity crisis? Two powerful voices in the advocacy space Roberto Múkaro Borrero, chief of the Guainía Taíno Tribe, president of the United Confederation of Taíno People, and Rev. Serene Jones, President of Union Theological will discuss climate, faith practices, and traditional ecological knowledge in a probing discussion moderated by Visions2030 founder Carey Lovelace. Borrero is strategic advisor for the Center for Earth Ethics, which is housed at Union Theological in New York City.

Unlock your inner gardener. Stop by Metabolic Studio’s booth at the EcoExpo and make a “seed bomb” with clay, compost, and seeds from native plants. These small earth balls allow for sowing seeds in an unconventional way, especially in areas where tilling the soil is not feasible. The clay and compost protect the seeds from being eaten by birds and insects while providing them with the nutrients and conditions they need to grow.

The AlloSphere is a three-story metal sphere in an echo-free chamber, used to project dazzling computer-generated imagery and sounds. As an interactive multi-user instrument, it allows scientists, artists, and other researchers to be immersed in information that traverses scale, from the atomic to the galactic–a conversation of quantum consciousness. In the world of climate, it allows the visualization of complex data, making new understanding and discoveries possible.

One key in creating momentum in the climate conversation is the “stories” we tell about it. Join screenwriter and playwright Rae Binstock and transdisciplinary artist and Fulbright Scholar Jes Vesconte in Good Energy's Climate Lens Workshops, which allow writers (and everyone else!) to start seeing any modern story through a Climate Lens. In a one-hour workshop, you can investigate how climate impacts characters’ emotions and actions, and review case studies of existing climate appearances in TV and film. You'll also get to practice applying the Climate Lens, ranging from modeling solutions, to brief mentions, to climate-driven characters and plots, exploring the rich array of human emotions (beyond despair!) that climate change can evoke. These workshops will be held twice daily on weekends.

The AlloSphere is a three-story metal sphere in an echo-free chamber, used to project dazzling computer-generated imagery and sounds. As an interactive multi-user instrument, it allows scientists, artists, and other researchers to be immersed in information that traverses scale, from the atomic to the galactic–a conversation of quantum consciousness. In the world of climate, it allows the visualization of complex data, making new understanding and discoveries possible.

Workshop: Good Energy's Climate Lens
One key in creating momentum in the climate conversation is the “stories” we tell about it. Join screenwriter and playwright Rae Binstock and transdisciplinary artist and Fulbright Scholar Jes Vesconte in Good Energy's Climate Lens Workshops, which allow writers (and everyone else!) to start seeing any modern story through a Climate Lens. In a one-hour workshop, you can investigate how climate impacts characters’ emotions and actions, and review case studies of existing climate appearances in TV and film. You'll also get to practice applying the Climate Lens, ranging from modeling solutions, to brief mentions, to climate-driven characters and plots, exploring the rich array of human emotions (beyond despair!) that climate change can evoke. These workshops will be held twice daily on weekends.

In a one-hour workshop, you can investigate how climate impacts characters’ emotions and actions, and review case studies of existing climate appearances in TV and film. You'll also get to practice applying the Climate Lens, ranging from modeling solutions, to brief mentions, to climate-driven characters and plots, exploring the rich array of human emotions (beyond despair!) that climate change can evoke. These workshops will be held twice daily on weekends.

Unlock your inner gardener. Stop by Metabolic Studio’s booth at the EcoExpo and make a “seed bomb” with clay, compost, and seeds from native plants. These small earth balls allow for sowing seeds in an unconventional way, especially in areas where tilling the soil is not feasible. The clay and compost protect the seeds from being eaten by birds and insects while providing them with the nutrients and conditions they need to grow.

The AlloSphere is a three-story metal sphere in an echo-free chamber, used to project dazzling computer-generated imagery and sounds. As an interactive multi-user instrument, it allows scientists, artists, and other researchers to be immersed in information that traverses scale, from the atomic to the galactic–a conversation of quantum consciousness. How can the art world engage in a meaningful way to help bring about a thriving, sustainable world? In a first for a major U.S. art museum, in 2020 the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) announced the creation of an Environmental Council focused on climate, conservation, and environmental justice.

Hear from Kelsey Shell, MOCA's newly appointed Environmental & Sustainability Strategist in conversation with David G. Johnson, founder of Act 4 Entertainment, Life Trustee of MOCA, and co-founder of its Environmental Council. Important initiatives made possible by the Council within the first year include working toward institution-wide carbon negativity, carbon-free energy, and environmentally-focused museum-quality exhibitions. What are some of the particular challenges artists and art institutions face in helping a green world?
